A sash is typically considered as the crowning sign of victory at a Miss America Pageant. This seems right but it’s not the only way to sport a classic sash. These sweet little treats can actually be used to add a taste of glam to any prom dress. A sash does not have to be the shoulder-to-hip, golden lettered design that everyone thinks of. A sash is simply a thin, or thick, piece of fabric which is used to adorn the upper bodice of the dress. It can wrap horizontally around the upper waist, around the waist or hips, around the bust, or to adorn the shoulders. A sash is not one-sided and t can be a sweet way to add specific detail to your prom outfit. The general sash is tiered at one end, and attached with a simple stitch or an accessory (such as a decorative brooch). The far more modish sashes are lengthier and are tied around the body with material left to hang loosely for appeal. A sash can be an amazing way to adorn a strapless, one-strap, or even spaghetti strapped dress.
A sash can be used to add light and flair to a one-shade dress or any dress that could use a pick-me-up. Designer Alfred Sung has an amazing way of developing sashes in a way that adds depth and texture to already stylish dresses. A thick, lengthy sash can be wrapped around the waist, or hips, several times and then tied in a simple bow to then allow the ribbon-train to fully hang. If a sash is long, the sinuous train will add its own signature to the dress. A sash can be purchased from a designer, or ordered online, and even designed by you. Purchasing a sash can be easier, but the only trouble is finding the width and color that you prefer. By designing your own sash you choose the thickness and the color that best appeals to you. Purchase several yards of a charming silk fabric in a coordinating color. Swiftly hem the sides, and the tipped ends (after cutting to spec) using a simple, one-stitch sewing machine and that is all there is to it. You can, of course, make the sash far more detailed but this would depend on you and your time restraints. You can add decorative gemstone edging, tapered ends, even sew two colors of silk fabric together for a two color tier effect. The idea is a good one and the possibilities are endless, so grab some fabric and make a sash that will make your gown scream sophistication.

There are many trends coming and going these days so it’s hard to tell what is what without staying glued to a serious magazine subscription and staying on the internet for hours at a time. Fortunately, for us ladies, we can stick with the solid trends quite easily.
One of the trends that has stuck with us for quite a few years now is a reversal from the eighties and nineties. Ten years ago it was quite the norm to see almost every chick in either tights or pantyhose.
Those days are far behind us and the last thing that you want to find yourself covered with is a sticky, itchy pair of pantyhose. They have come and gone and thank goodness for it. Not only do they require a color matching expert, or a systematic shade alignment, to get a color that actually resembles your skin tones, but they are also beyond uncomfortable.
The look of lovely is now dependant on the care that you give your skin. There is nothing sexier than a pair of healthy, shimmering, silky legs. There are so many products out there that you can utilize to create a healthy tan, toned appeal to your legs. Not only can you imitate a glowing tan without harsh rays or tanning beds, but you can also get the beautiful glow all over. The lotions, creams, and gels that are available can be used from head to toe. A year-round tan is now safely possible.
The trick is to find the right shade. If you have a pinkish tint to your skin, generally this tone is found on red heads and girls with freckled skin, choose a shade that is no more than one shade darker than your natural shade. For olive skin tones, generally Asian skin tones for example, go no higher than two shades.
You should know that it is ok to have more than one bronzer product on hand. The point being that if you choose to use tanning lotions it will be ok to also use bronzing powders or make-up that gives a tanning effect (such as bronzing foundation or blushes). This layered effect can be useful for girls with a paler complexion. Have fun with it.

There is such a thing as wearing the ‘wrong’ color for your skin tone. It’s true. Some skin tone’s match better with certain colors in clothing then others. It’s a natural attraction between skin and clothing. We have to love the skin we’re in so that means we should find clothing that loves our skin too.
There are four main categories to skin tones. In general having so few categories makes it much easier and covers all ranges in color, ethnicity, and under tones. Don’t get me wrong. Some of us can roam out of our normal comfort zone in color matches and still be ok, that’s normal on occasion, but if you stray too far it begins to become blatantly disturbing.
The best bet in finding your true skin undertone is to look at the inside of your arm in natural daylight. This gives you the best idea. And don’t forget to take into account those future trips to the tanning bed. When planning your important outfit for an event that is in the future you will want to take any future skin change into consideration.
Category One is for people with cool skin tones. You will have pale, porcelain white skin, yellow’s, olive’s, and also dark skin. This category covers the two polar opposites of skin color; the palest of white and the darkest of brown’s. Category One is served best by powerful color. Navy blue, black, red, hot pink; and for the lighter side try cooler blues, pinks, and yellows. Avoid earth tones, orange and gold.
Category Two is close to category one, but with pale and pink tones. Usually in natural blondes (the majority of category two is made up of blondes). Wear powder blue, dusty pink, mauve, lavender, plum, and pale yellow. Avoid earth tones and powerful colors. Category Three is led by rich golden skin tones, peach, golden beige or brown skin. Wear beige, olive, gold, dark brown, and rich grey. Avoid bright colors, black and white. Category Four is led by warm skin tones such as creamy whites or peach and ivory, but with golden undertones. Usually golden blondes or strawberry blondes. Wear golden yellow, golden brown, peach, and aqua. Avoid black and white, and dark colors.
